HomeFAIRSSPALATUM EXPO – TOURIST DESTINATION FESTIVAL
This is an event with which we are opening Split’s preseason, with the aim of presenting the diversity in Split region’s offer as a tourist destination. The Spalatum Expo project unifies different segments of our tourist offer which results in a synergy of the individual segments which greatly contributes to the quality of our tourist destination offer. The Spalatum Expo Tourist Destination Festival will:
Present souvenir makers from all over Croatia, competing for the most original souvenirs in various categories: the arts, functionality, foodstuffs and ethno-souvenirs.
Present different entities of the tourist destination offer, tourist board, local cuisine, national parks, nature parks, excursions, eco/ethno villages with a focus on presenting new tourist resources.
Present innovative projects whose goal is to improve the tourist destination offer and sustainability of tourism throughout an extended season.
The first SPALATUM EXPO destination festival in 2015 was held as part of the Saint Domnius feast day celebration. A folklore show by our county’s KUD (Culture and Arts Society) with over 500 performers was held as part of the first ever festival. As there was an emphasis on health tourism, a range of private health institutions also participated. We also presented a number of sports associations (PŠD MARULIANUM SPLIT, HPD MOSOR, BICIKLISTIČKI KLUB TIMUN, DINARIDES TRAIL, ZAJEDNICA TEHNIČKE KULTURE – ZVJEZDANO SELO MOSOR, KONJIČKI KLUB SPLIT, TOURIST AGENCIES, MARINAS AND BOAT TRIPS) which offered active tourism, such as: running, alpinism, cycling, hiking, stargazing, horse-riding, etc.
The second SPALATUM EXPO was held on Easter Monday 2016 and also showcased a vast number of exhibitors: souvenir makers, culinary offer, family-owned agriculture, tourist boards of Kaštela, Klis, Dugopolje, Solin, Sinj, Vela Luka, Krk National Park, LAG Zagora, Radošić and Kokorić ethno-villages.
This year’s SPALATUM EXPO presented newly-discovered destinations, such as Žrnovnica and Poljička Republic regions. At the expo, we presented country lifestyle, excursions, organic food producers and also culture and arts societies of the region: KUD MOSOR GATA, KLAPA ŽRNOVNICA and KLAPA SVETI FLORIJAN. As gastronomical stars of the region’s heritage, we presented Poljička soparnik, Žrnovnička soparnik and Klis uljenik. The Dalmatian hinterland was presented by the culture and arts societies KUD PLETER DUGOPOLJE and KUD BRANIMIR 888 MUĆ.
SPALATUM EXPO 2016 presented two intriguing tourist projects: TURIZAM BEZ ZAPREKA – sightseeing for people with disabilities (emphasizing the importance of catering to such groups) and BAŠ3BAŠ: ĆA JE PUSTA LONDRA – Split before and after Diocletian – aimed for the citizens of Split to learn more about their town and to be good hosts to their guests.
